Alguru is small IT company specializing in building financial software applications. Alguru has currently one full time employee (CEO and founder Emil Ahlmann Østergaard) but will from time to time draw on free-lance resources when needed, based on an extensive network of highly skilled professionals from the industry and academia.
Alguru covers all aspects in IT-projects, from analysis to implementation and support and
maintenance. The company has specialized in building software applications that easily explain personal financial matters to the end user, despite the fact, that the underlying calculations often are quite complicated and necessitate extensive knowledge within economics and mathematical modelling.
Alguru believes, that a close collaboration between academia and industry generates innovation and societal value. Furthermore, the company believes in openness and therefore strives to open source as many of their products as possible, making them available to the public.
Expertise & People
Emil Ahlmann Østergaard, who will be the main contributor from Alguru to this project has several years of experience building professional software in the industry. Emil has a bachelor and master’s degree from Technical University of Demark within Mathematical modelling and financial engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration/Finance from Copenhagen Business School.
Emil has an academic interest within areas of investments and life-cycle wealth management from a mathematical perspective. Emil has previously delivered the software (as an employee of Keylane A/S) in a similar Erasmus+ project with the same participating universities, with the purpose of educating European citizens (the general public) as well as students in higher education programs about pension finance (“Understanding Pensions in Europe”). Furthermore, Emil has during his studies been working with Prof. A Weissensteiner from UNIBZ who will be a partner of this project.
Emil has for the last five years been building professional software in the financial industry, that was mainly used for holistic financial advisory for private customers (the entire life-cycle). His main responsibilities included software development and mathematical modelling of every aspects that relates to personal finance, tax law, public benefits, investments, pensions etc.
